A typical day in front of the channel. Containers come and go, day and night.The heart of world trade beats at 50 m from home and it is all the human production which passes through there to go wherever. Right Shanghai, Korea, Japan then Seattle, In the other side, India, Suez, Naples, Marseille and Rotterdam at the end. About 4,500 photographs taken between 2008 and 2011 from the village of Pak Kok Tsuen, the northern tip of the island.

This installation is a diptyque provided to be projected on two adjoining walls or not (2 films of the same length and synchronized running in the loop). it can also be mounted differently triptych or a single movie ...
This installation is intended for viewing in confrontation / with another film "GoneWithTheWind"

  • J'ai vécu sur cette petite île au sud de Hong Kong pendant 3 ans, seul la plupart du temps, isolé entre jungle et mer de chine dans une petite cabane blanche inondé de typhons, de brume, de cette lumière diffuse, de ce climat subtropicale étouffant, moite et collant. En face, à 20 minutes de Bateau, il y a Hong Kong centre de la finance asiatique et entre les deux, ce bras de mer " the chanel", où les portes- containers transportent inlassablement toute la production humaine vers les 4 coins du monde.
    En bref, j'ai passé le plus clair de mon temps à photographié ce que je voyais autour de moi. Des milliers de photographies montées ensuite en vidéo de manière chaotique, témoignage de la dualité et du contraste violent entre une nature sauvage et hostile, une ruralité fragile et l'urbanisme, la consommation, l'activité humaine frénétique anonyme et quelque peu déshumanisé. Les cotés pile et face d'un monde en quelque sorte.
